Question on the thwarts. The Construction Plans say the thwarts are "glued on slot in rubrail." I'm not sure what that means. The Construction Plans sheet seems to show the thwarts on top of the rubrail while the Plan and Profile sheet seems to show them under the rubrail.
My plan was to notch the hull side so the top of the thwarts are flush with the top on the hull sides and let the thwarts hang over the sides by 1/2". Then two layers of rubrail will be notched around the thwarts and the final 1/4" rubrail strip will go over the thwarts.
What say you?
Cheers,
Chip

The only issue I can think of is that the rubrails help form a fair curve along the sides/gunnels. If they are interrupted, you might end with angles at the thwarts, instead of a fair curve.

Not saying it *will* happen, just something to look out for.

I plan to draft a new set of plans for that one, more detailed.
This is an old plan and I did not give much details. There should be a cross section showing how the thwarts sit on the rubrails.
There are two thwarts, each made of two layers.
The second layer, the one on top, goes over the rubrail and the side but the first layer should fit in a notch in the rubrail.

I'll draw a quick cross section, give me 10 minutes.

See below:

The first layer fits in a notch, the 2nd one goes on top. The edge is rounded.
The exact shape of the notch doesn't matter.
If you plan to do any serious sailing, you may want to reinforce the mast thwart by putting a cleat in the inside corner.

I build the rubrail first, mark the location for the thwarts, grind the edge down and epoxy glue the thwart.
