14' smokercraft 440 kawasaki jet jon

Hey guys! First forum I've ever joined hopefully you can help. I put a 440 kawasaki jet ski pump and engine in my 14' flat bottom smokercraft. I duplicated the inlet of the pump out of aluminum to match the ski so I would have a true flat bottom boat.... But the thing cavitates in water with any chop at all. It does ok when the water is smooth as glass but I was wanting a river boat. I've tried different intake grates, nozzle angles, nothing seems to help. I read a older forum on this site of a guy doing the same thing and having the same problems but I can't find it again.

It a flat bottom boat, that is the main problem. You need a little V or some other way to keep the water clean of air.

That's what I figured I'd hear. I was hoping someone might have a clever idea. I'm planning on building a inboard jet boat from scratch this winter, how much minimum deadrise angle do you need?

short of building a section or pad into the hull, not really

depends on speed, but its not somethign I would do without a lot of research. I would find an existing design that works well in the same speed I want to go, and use the same hull shape.
