Epoxy over Paint?

I'm doing some repainting and had to sand off some spots where the paint (and even some fiberglass) had cracked off. Around those spots, the paint seems to be good. Will there be any problems if I seal the sanded spots with Marine epoxy and it covers some of the old paint too? I plan to sand and repaint the entire surface.

Thanks for any info. :D

I guess the question I'm asking is, will epoxy stick to paint if it properly prepared (sanded)?

Dave if all your doing is repainting go with the SilverTip High Build Yacht Primer. Sand every thing down with 120 for the first coat and put on 2 more coats and then follow your finish paints instructions for sanding the final sanding. You don't want to put epoxy over paint.

With some paint yes, but then your epoxy is relying on the paint's bond to the boat, which usually isn't as strong as the epoxys. The bond is only as good as the weakest link basically.
