Re: OB15 showing its age. Refit time?

Could be. I was very meticulous in my paint application. I may end up using it again because of my experience using it, its relative ease of use, and fairly affordable price. I'd like to use the best, but the sticker shock is difficult to overcome on some of the prices I am seeing. I did roll and ti...

Re: OB15 showing its age. Refit time?

It's not so bad as that. Just showing its age. If you look at the surface you see what I would call age cracking just barely starting. Only in a few places near hardware or where there was wear and tear is there a bit of checking. I could probably get away with spot repairs on that, and touching up ...

Re: OB15 showing its age. Refit time?

I think this fall or winter I will have to break down and do it. It's not really THAT much hardware. IF I leave the wiring and cables in the chases and label everything correctly, the only hard part will be hours of unscrewing screws for all the hardware and getting the outboard off. Then it's a goo...

OB15 showing its age. Refit time?

My OB15 is coming up on 12 years old, and the top coat and other bits here and there are starting to show their age. I see a few places with some checking starting to emerge, a few hairline stress cracks here and there, and the S3 paint is starting to show some signs of aging. Overall, the boat has ...

Re: Hagar's OD18

Hagar, I've had a long hiatus from building, and the OD18 was one of the hull plans I'd been eyeing for a while. Do you have any current pictures of the hull, and info on the materials used? 1088 or 6566? Okume or Meranti? I've got the skill to finish out a boat, but maybe not the budget quite yet. ...

Re: OB 15 low sheer

I will say the shear near or at design makes it a remarkably seaworthy small boat. I have taken mine through conditions maybe I ought not to have and it rides up and over large waves without taking water. Only a really steep breaking wave can swamp it as designed.

Re: 2013 Texas Builder's Meet August 23-25 @ POC

Sad I could not make it, but it was all for the best, most likely. I took my boat out sunday for a little fishing and blew out a trailer tire on the interstate. I did catch a 22 inch striper on conroe. POC is a nice place. My uncle has a place there I can stay at, and for salt it is centrally locate...

Re: 2013 Texas Builder's Meet August 23-25 @ POC

I had a great time at Port Aransas last year. I ended up with the cheapest accomodations ever: Sleeping on the state park beach in the back of my Xterra for $10. Dealing with that incredible traffic jam at the public ramp was a pain, but the fishing and water were very nice. I'll try to make it out ...
