Re: Maine Boat Show

Well, I hope I can make it, I passed it by the girls, and they're all for it. Imagine that. :) Hope to see you all Saturday around 11:00 am.

Re: Maine Boat Show

Hey guys, I'm going to play it by ear. My wife's a CPA, so this time of year is crazy around my house. I think I'm brave enough to try it with the girls (4 yrs and 2 yrs.). I'm just going to make it a day trip if I manage to pull it together. I've got a new friend who's in an art show in Brunswick t...

Re: peel ply????

Do you mean orange peel? That's a paint issue, usually caused by the paint being applied too thick. It dimples and they call that orange peel. Some paints are thick and go on thick, so they have a tendency to do this. I like the S3 because you can thin it, apply it very thinly and after about 20 coa...

Re: running aground can get expensive!

You posted, so you're going to get my .02 here. First of all, this isn't supposed to be a political site, I'm sure I've heard that somewhere here before. Secondly, this has been going on in MA since the Pilgrims landed- one group makes money destroying it, another group makes money putting it back t...

Re: Maine Boat Show

I may go. I haven't decided yet. The Narrow Guage Railroad and museum next door is pretty fun too. We did that within the last year or so.

Re: Fishing Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries

A couple other points... When I said "longshaft" above, what I meant was standard shaft. There are standard (long)- 20"ish, short- 15"ish and extra long shaft- 25"ish. Jacques boats are usually designed with the 20" shaft length specified. You then cut down for a 15" or I guess redesign the transom ...

Re: Fishing Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries

Keith, Those are good questions, but sometimes, in boating, the answers are not what you would expect. For instance, I think that there is one telling response that always comes back to some of those questions, it is based on a loosly defined term, which is based on an antique concept, which is base...

Re: Fishing Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries

I have to say, if they had had the FS14 at the time I built my GV13, I would have built it instead. In one instance, I had someone quite heavy in the front of the GV13, another two passengers, and a considerable chop. When we'd drop off a rise and nose in, the flat front transom would create quite a...

Re: Anyone want to start a very large project

He says it's for a large project that was planned, but isn't going to happen. However, it sounds like more than half his resin has been used on something? WHAT?
