My major problem is during maneuvering while docking, especially if there is any wind.

I don't really want to go to the trouble of attaching a keel (not sure how to do it). maybe I'll just have to learn to live with it.

Thanks for the help.

GV 15 Strakes

I built the GV 15 last year and have one concern with it's preformance. It has considerable side slip in the turns. This is a real problem when trying to maneuver at slow speeds. Would strakes be the solution to this problem? If so, what would be the correct size and location?

Gv 15 Finished as Duck Boat

Ricky,

I haven't added up the cost yet. The modification I made (dry storage, enclosed seats, larger deck, nonskid deck and sole, etc) were needed to make it a more functional duck boat.

Thanks for the kind words.

GV 15 Finished as Duck Boat

I finally finished my GV 15. I modified the plans to serve as a duck boat. I'm presently fabricating a duck blind to fit the boat. When that is done, I'll mount the motor and launch it. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/11957/normal_boat%20003-1.JPG http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpic...

GV 15 Decking

I am preparing to install the deck on my GV 15. How do you join the bow section of the hull to the deck? The plans call for gluing the deck down. However, there is not a substancial surface area between the deck and hull in the bow area. Should this seam be glassed from the inside? I'd appreciate so...

GV 15 Motorwell Sides

The plans call for 3/4" thick motorwell sides on drawing #B211/9 and show them being cut from 1/2" plywood on drawing #B211/3. Which demention is correct?

Thanks

GV 15 Motor

I am configuring the boat for duck hunting primarily. So, there will be two adults, two dogs, decoys, and associated hunting gear onboard. I estimate approximately 600 lbs.

GV 15 Motor

I'm looking for a motor for the GV 15 that I am building. The specs call for a motor rated 25 to 50 hp. I just want something that will plane the boat out nicely. I don't need blinding speed. What would be a appropriate size motor?
