Thanks for the reply Jacques. I would be using the boat for more coastal cruising and club racing so the 7/8 rig is the right choice for me. I still don't know which vagabond to build but I am leaning towards the 23. When designing these boats do you have much insite to how they will rate speed wise...

Yes I feel the same as Jacques, I dont like a huge cabin but the merit is there for more storage forward without a high style cabin. As you move the cabin aft you get extra room due to the beam and freeboard.
This is not a boat you can live on but for the odd overnighter it could be done.

Thanks for that Ryans.

Thats a surprise, the vg20 has a pretty tall rig for a 20' boat.
I suppose in designing the vg23 the rig didn't need to be much higher but the sail area could be increased due to its length
Thanks again

Vagabond 20/23 mast lenght

Hi Jacques, This might sound like a silly question but I have forgotten to think about mast length when storing. I probably would like to leave the mast on the mast crutches when storing as aposed to de-rigging all the time and ermoving the mast from the boat, so I am wondering if you could give me ...

low / open transom

Hi All, I have to agree with Justin About the transom with skirt idea as I own a hartley ts16 with a modified transom, on a square run with decent waves the water tends to find its way into the cockpit (mostley through the drain holes for the cockpit), this isn't on overly worrying thing as it drain...
