Varnish

Ok, in an earlier post "finishing this thing" I was informed that I need to use varnish to get a "bright" finish on my little boat. I've been sanding, smoothing, fairing and such, and I think I've gone as far as epoxy can go. I think it's time to start applying varnish. With the epoxy I've found that...

Re: finishing this thing

Do I need to get it as smooth as possible with the epoxy, and then varnish, or just well covered with epoxy and work on smooth with varnish?

Re: finishing this thing

I probably have at least 3 coats on the whole boat and 5 in many. I had some issues with bubbles in my glass and ended up sanding those out down to the wood in spots and going back with new glass and epoxy. That resulted in a less than smooth finish in some areas. The good part is, I got rid of all ...

Re: finishing this thing

But it is possible? I just received, via UPS another batch of epoxy, so I have the material. I'll have to look for a fairing board. I'll also take some pictures and maybe you'll be able to give me more tips. Thanks

finishing this thing

I have been working on my boat for years. Now I've finally gotten it down to finishing the hull. It's a stich and glue made of plywood. Very well covered with glass and epoxy. Whats the secret to making this epoxy smooth? I've sanded and coated it a few times, and I still get lines when I add more e...

best paint

Does anyone know or care to recommend a paint that is good to use on an FL11 that I can buy at Lowes or Home depot? My plan was to use the Seal krete epoxy paint as a primer and then cover it with something else in the colors I want. So far the seal krete isn't my favorite, but it does adhere pretty...

paint

I bought Epoxy seal from Seal Krete at Lowes. I wiped it down but didn't wash it first. Thinking about wiping it down with denatured alcohol. There has been some rain and it has had some water in it when it rains during the day when I'm gone at work, but I wipe it dry when I come home and give it a ...

My epoxy comtinues to have a brown stain that bleeds through the paint, or at least the first primer coats. I'm using epoxy garage floor paint. Is this normal, or will it be a problem? I waited until everything was dry for a week.
