Do you also put a bead of 5200 around the lip of the deckplate before you mount it and screw it in place?

Moonfish - pictures? capacity?

Hello, I've been looking at the moonfish plans but I haven't seen a picture of a completed one yet. I searched using the keyword Moonfish in the gallery but didn't find any matches. I found a couple of messages where builders said they had finished theirs but the one that had a link to a gallery did...

The deck plates are indeed plastic. I forgot to mention that in my message. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to grab a tube of 5200 before the weekend. The best Christmas gift I can think of right now is a day of nice weather so I can work on my boat some more... or take it out. After posting I w...

Installing Deck Plates on FL11

Does anyone have any tips for installing deck plates? I'm updating my FL11 by putting quarter-turn deck plates on the seat areas to allow access to them for storage but still keep them watertight. I've read some instructions on the net that say to use a silicon sealant around the plate. Will that be...

Many thanks, Jacques! That's good to know. And Knottybuoyz, I'm already past that point. My wife keeps reminding me how over budget I went (that's gotta be a symptom too) but I keep looking at plans for the next one, too. A sailboat would be nice. :) (Don't tell her, but I don't think the whole budg...

And if it's evaporating in my basement, does that mean I'm breathing that vapor upstairs?

Will Resin/Hardener Evaporate?

I've got a bit of the Marinepoxy resin and hardner left over and has been stored in the basement for about a year. One of the two has yellowed a bit but I've read somewhere that this will happen and isn't a problem. But It looks like there's less in the bottles than I remember. Now I'm not real good...

are you planning to cover the epoxy with something that has UV protection?. Not right now. I was thinking about this last night when I finished. I've read that leaving the epoxy bright means needing something else to cover it to prevent it from being damaged by the sun. Maybe someone else can share...

Well, the deed is done. It's so hot in SC that I couldn't get plain epoxy to hold the tag up. The tag just slowly slid down the side of the boat. Using medium hardener produced epoxy that flowed like water. Never saw the epoxy flow like that when I was building her. A little wood flour to thicken it...

Boomer, Thanks! I didn't think you were being flippant at all. I was just curious what you did. I picked up the tags from the engravers today. Somehow they make me feel all happy about finishing my little boat all over again. :) I'm looking forward to affixing them to the boat as soon as I can along...
