setting up a trailer

I have been happily using my 17 foot Garvey for about 5 years now. The only problem I have with it is great difficulty in loading it onto my trailer from the water. I have guides in the back and I just installed rollers on top of the carpeted bunks to make it easier to pull up. The problem is 1.the ...

Re: Expanding fasteners?

No offense taken. BTW, the boat is fantastic, so light and strong. It flies on a rebuilt 1990 Evinrude 60 hp. Gets on plane easily and really rides above the water. Very comfortable fishing platform. It ain't pretty but I still get a lot of compliments. As I said this is my fifth season and it's goi...

Re: Expanding fasteners?

Thanks. I think I'll try the wellnuts first because of the dampening and sealing properties. :D

Expanding fasteners?

The wood screws and marine adhesive holding down my console seat in my GV17 have become loose after about five seasons. I can't get access to under the floor to hold nuts for bolts. Anyone suggest an expanding fastener or some kind of captured nut to make this more secure?

Re: drain plug vs. bilge pump

How do I make a drain plug hole? Can I just drill with a 1 inch hole saw and then epoxy the rim and use a 1inch plug? Should I drill a little smaller than this?

drain plug vs. bilge pump

I finally have an engine mounted on my GV17. Put the boat in the water and voila! Those too-big scupper holes I put in the hull are above the waterline and drain the boat magnificently. I had nightmares of the boat filling up with water... Anyway I still have two places collecting water: the forward...

Attaching the seat

I am going to order the seat for my GV17 soon. What's the best way for me to attach it? I can't access the undersurface of the sole. Is there a sturdy kind of captured nut or other anchor that will go into the sole to screw in the seat? I can't imagine that simple wood screws would be strong enough....
