Re: sk14 with outboard and trolling motor

I was joking about the radar, you know that but I see some sophisticated fish finders and electronics on some kayaks.

Re: sk14 with outboard and trolling motor

Where I live, I see kayak fishermen every day but I know what you mean. Some accumulate gadgets and gear, I expect to see one with a radar soon. :D I would not even look at the ABYC (USCG) ratings for those small boats. You don't need it and they produce aberrant results in that size. In the end, it...

Re: C19 messed up my transom?

One trick that worked for me is to drill holes in the different layers to allow the epoxy glue to squeeze out. It does two things: eliminate (or reduce) air gaps and it gives you a visual confirmation that there is enough glue in between. If no glue shows through the drilled holes, it is not too lat...

Re: sk14 with outboard and trolling motor

Tom is correct but I must mention that the designed displacement is not the weight of the hull. It is the weight of the boat plus crew or engine or just some load. In this case, it is the weight equivalent to a draft of 2" which means a SUP situation, no engine. Increase the displacement to 500 lbs ...

Re: LM18 vs. FS18

You are asking for a yacht design course :D . Hull shape details like the ones you ask can not be covered in a forum message, many books have been written about that. The main difference between the 2 boats is the beam. Several factors influence the volume distribution, static and dynamic. Some feat...

Re: sk14 with outboard and trolling motor

The SK13 and 14 are different versions of a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard), some scaled up to accommodate a heavier crew. The FS14 LS is areal boat, the FS14 with a Low cut Sheer.
The FS14LS is more of a boat, the others are SUP's.

Re: PC22 Question for Jacques

Yes but he will have to reinforce the structure.

I would prefer to know more about the program. A GT27 will offer more living acomodations and superior load capacity. For canals and estuaries, the same 30 HP will work.

Re: PC22 Question for Jacques

Not good. I had to remove the steps for a quick computation but that is maybe 3% of the volume. The PC22 at 8" draft displaces 2,000 lbs. The same boat scaled 10% in 3D displaces 2,750 lbs or in metric 1.250 kg (liters) at 10 cm immersion. You are 1.600 kg but I think you are optimistic. Let's say 2...

Re: PC22 Question for Jacques

I can add all the weights but to calculate displacement, I have to sketch the scaled hull in 3D then run my hydrostatics module.
Give me 30 minutes.
