Re: Pirogue Type Raft

Jacquesmm, Thanks for the reply. I am looking at these as 2 different projects, I am currently finishing the canoe but in a month or 2 will need to either upgrade my diy raft or build a new one. It is for this I was considering a cobbled together streched nc16 raft. The reason for the chines etc. wa...

Re: Pirogue Type Raft

Meant to say. I was thinking of roughly stretching the lengths for the nc16 plans but keeping the same depth of sides.

Pirogue Type Raft

Hi guys, 1st I am currently building an NC16 and all is going well. I have also been thinking about a raft race we took part in last year and was wondering if plywood pirogue type raft would be a good option for this summer. Re: NC16 Material and marking out

Thanks for getting back to me. I got a small piece approx. 1 1/2" x 1 1/12" and boiled for 10min. After I cooled with cold water, it looked fine but when bent felt soft, I played with it for a few minutes and was able to separate the layers. Would this rule it out if epoxy coated?

Thanks guys

NC16 Material and marking out

Hi Guys, Haven't posted for a while. I have a few sheets of Poplar External Grade Ply and and building a NC16, I know you had tested Poplar ply in the past and found it failed after a few years. I assume with the easier bends in a nc16 it would be OK if painted correctly, what do you think? Also I a...
