Re: Transom foam

Jacques -

I'll be interested to see how (or if) this applies as a replacement or augment material for existing designs?

Re: A Cracker Built GF18- Splashed 2-14-15

Larry... I always wondered - should I train this hound-dog of mine to be a rescue / search dog. I know it's an uphill battle but I've never in my life seen a finer nose. 25% basset, 25% blood, 50% coon. Basset legs and head, blood nose and ears, coon colors and tail. Someone's got a sense of humor.....

Re: Looking for advice on first build! (OD 18, FS17, or OB17

I'd suggest building one of the smaller projects first. I mean really small like the cheap canoe. This is no reflection on your ability or potential ability (or anyone else's). Perhaps you 100% don't want a canoe - if so there are 12' skiffs available. With the canoe especially the investment is ver...

Re: Looking for advice on first build! (OD 18, FS17, or OB17

I've been in that water - it's cold. I'd have my eye on more freeboard and a V bottom. Trolling for salmon's a lot more comfortable when you're dry. Jacques boats, almost universally here are reported as being dry or very much dry for what they are. However, you still pick up slap from waves on the ...

Jacques:

Didn't figure you were. I'm too big and ugly to take anything personally anyhow

Noles - are you finding you're looking for a spot to sit for a while on longer runs?

Re: GF16 In The PSL

Jacques: Spruce for me comes from the family boat building up in Southeast Alaska where it isn't nearly so hard to get. I'll take another whack with the skil saw and a 1/4" sheet from the home un-improvement store. <Edit> I have no special love for those funky saws. I have enough trouble using the o...

Re: GF16 In The PSL

Wonder if steam-bent stock would be OK for rubrail. Spruce isn't really 'a thing' around here - have to ship it in ($!) but I can normally get Cypress and rip it down to say 1/2" or 3/4". My attempts at consistent rips on the ply were... discouraging.

Re: Have some questions on CS25 construction....

I overthought a few things moving into my first project. Simply put, I was wrong in doing so. I tried the alternative - I can not stress how vastly easier it is the way Jacques' plans are done. Seeing the results here compared to the hair-ripping experience I was having with a full size plan has me ...
