Re: front casting deck wood rotted on fixer upper Carolina Skiff

Designlady. You got 17 years out this design. Use knotless yellow pine. Bed it in epoxy, lay a bit of fiberglass cloth and resin over it. Reinstall and go fishing Best Wishes.

Re: Time to give it up.

Dear Ken, You are an inspiration. At some point we do have to say Godspeed to a dying mate. Then a reality check on age offers other opportunities. My wife and I just revisited Riverside Marina and Resort on Homosassa River. We spend our honeymoon there in 1971, no Fishing. Boy, that area has change...

Only 6 Speckled trout. It took us 5 hours to catch 5 keeper Redfish to limit out our two man 10 each...

Piperdown, welcome. Yep a good bit of church can’t harm a boat builder. Have fun with your build. Ask questions, not a soul here hasn’t messed up any step of a build. They share sage advise temped with wit and wink.

Re: Bass Boat

Grit19, please keep in mind. All of these suggested boats will give you and your son, lighter than production rigs, allowing easier launching, engine cost and hours of pleasure. Think how many production rigs with 90 hp and higher requiring 24v & 36v trolling motors. You can do nicely with 12v 54lb ...
