Re: GF14 in France

Nice! I like how you did the front deck and compartment with the flotation foam up there.

Re: Hull ID plate

I made my own out of a piece of scrap .080 aluminum. I polished it up then bought a $9 number/letter stamp set from harbor freight and stamped the hin into it. I then riveted it to the transom.

Re: Small starting battery

I used a cheap lawn tractor battery and a cheap motorcycle battery to start a 20hp 4 stroke and a 9.9 4 stroke with absolutely no issues. The listed cca "requirements" for these motors are ridiculously high.

Re: FS18 Minimalistic

I wouldn't glue down that platform until you get the motor mounted and your tiller extension installed. That platform may severely limit the motors turning range with a tiller extension.

Re: Bruce Crandall Flyer Hydroplane

Oh that would be a cool motor. I'm sure you probably know it but the Vrod motor was a joint deal with Porsche. It's a shame Harley killed it is a great motor.

Re: Oscillating Tool recommendation

+ 1 on the HF model. I got one as a gift a few years back. I have seriously abused that thing and its still kicking. I also have a Rockwell that I got for a ridiculous price on a closeout at Lowes. It is a very nice tool. I like it better than the HF model but if your going to use it on one boat and...

Re: DE25 scaled up?

I don't think you can. This is taken from The Scaling Boat Plans page: "For example, the DE25 is a stretched DE23 with appropriate changes made to displacement, weight distribution etc. but the frames and bulkheads spacing is at its maximum and that boat cannot be stretched further."

Re: GF16 For Sale

Sold! Sad to see it go. There will be another build or two at some point. I have the SC16 plans and something bigger, a FS19, Panga or OD18.
