Re: Repton's GF16

Thanks, Gary, for your very constructive comments! ha, a jon boat is PRECISELY what I want it to look like (see the first pic in my build thread). Let me say that I will be using this boat to fish the stumps and backwaters of lakes Talquin and Seminole...never, do I intend to take it out in the fla...

Re: GF16 In The PSL

Gary, Couple of questions... You built exactly by the plans, correct? You indicate that your boat floats in 4" and am curious to know if you could provide some info as to your weight distribution when its floating at 4". Like, say, 2 half full 3 gal. gas cans in the bow, motor and battery (what siz...

Re: Repton's GF16

There have been some heavily modified GF boats on this forum that had less than stellar results. A center console GF12 and a tunnel GF16 come to mind. I was contemplating eliminating the mid seat and all that, but got worried about the final results and built it as designed and I'm glad I did. I lik...

Re: GF16 In The PSL

Thanks Bobby, Tally is my hometown btw :) I'm with Jim, stick steer from the mid seat would be ideal in this boat. I like his idea of the fuel tank in the mid seat as well in this configuration. I run solo a lot and you need weight forward in that scenario, which was why I put my fuel up front. I us...

Re: Bad Mix of Foam?

I had the same issues with it. After some time I realized it shrank, I'm talking weeks here, no one ever came up with a reason other than the mix ratios were off or it wasn't mixed thoroughly which wasn't the case. The foam was poured in the summer in the afternoon so there was no great temperature ...

Re: GF16 Kansas build

I hate windows in the shower. We had one in our previous house. I finally got tired of messing with it and closed it in. Keep in mind, water will intrude again at some point.
Good to see you back on the boat.

Re: Epoxy & graphite vs Steelflex?

I have Gatorglide on the bottom of my GF16 and used epoxy graphite on my sons Gheenoe. The epoxy graphite is tougher but the gatorglide is slicker for sure. I'm sure the Steelflex is similar to the Gatorglide. I would save some money and go epoxy graphite.

Re: GF16 Prop Selection

GF16's like some weight up front. I had some slight porpoising when alone and I put a yeti up front on the deck. I also use a Stingray Jr. on the motor and have had no issues since. Thanks I assume the slight porpoising was with you standing at the leaning post at your max speed. I got very little ...
