Re: C19 vs CX19

If your wife likes the P21 it is a no brainer... 1) you can never have a big enough boat and 2) happy wife = happy life :) :) Have you considered the Novi 23? Not much difference in materials or build time. You will get a slightly longer hull which gives you more cockpit space at the back and she wi...

Re: Best glue for PVC chase tubes

I experimented with flame treating UHMWPE in May. There's photos on my C17 page. Just a quick pass over a gas cooker. I tested with water. Instead of beading up the water spread out in sheets. Although you are supposed to have about 15minutes to get glue on, I noticed better wetness with water even...

Very good looking boat Ron! Love the photo.

Did you ever manage to do an RPM vs Speed test on your boat? Fascinated to see how these Pangas transition from displacement to planing....

Re: C19 vs CX19

Moving bulkheads around here and there is no big deal as far as I can make out! Even after you flip the boat and put in the stringers and frames, there is no major issue moving the central bulkheads backwards or forwards a little to accommodate your fuel tanks so long as you stick with Jacques guide...

Re: C19 vs CX19

Where are you going to use the boat as that will dictate whether the cabin version or the C19 is the better choice. For me in a warm climate the cabin version would just be hot and stuffy - but now that I have a young family the idea of a canvas dodger on the front like one of these is very appealin...

Re: Best glue for PVC chase tubes

How did you prepare the PVC? Flame treating seems to be the best prep for epoxy. I’ve never tried flame treating - but seems like it works - but it also seems that GFlex epoxy is streaks ahead when it comes to bonding plastics... https://www.epoxyworks.com/index.php/gluing-plastic-with-gflex-epoxy/

Best glue for PVC chase tubes

I am in the process of deciding how to glue the pvc chase tubes through my bulkheads on my C19 extension project. In the past I used epoxy but wasn’t totally satisfied. Thinking of a couple of options... 1) wrap the sections of pipe that pass through frames with a small strip of fiberglass tape. Thi...

Re: Ongoing C19 questions...

This is an option too. The same was suggested by a guy I know locally, but didn't know that the cellular structure could be better. Probably cheaper too. I went through all your permutations. I ended up calling Resichem in South Africa and speaking to one of their technicians. Basically when you po...

Re: Ongoing C19 questions...

Are you just going to make limber holes and the fill the compartments with PU foam? If you are putting limber holes have you considered instead putting foam blocks - as in foam that has been expanded at the factory in a controlled environment. I am told these are much more closed cell and less likel...

Re: Beamier boats

They call them canoes in the islands. This one from my first trip to Grand Cayman 11 years ago. They run to Jamaica and back. normal_IMG_0444.jpg Good looking Canoe. Everywhere I have travelled when it comes to efficiency the boats are long and lean. There is a similar boat built here called a Sess...
