Re: Simple steps for stringers and floor replacement

Glassed the floor in. Epoxied the bottom and edges of the floor, mixed a peanut butter blend with wood flour and spread it on top of the stringers. decided to go ahead and screw the floor down to the stringers for extra strength. Glassed floor in with 6 inch tape. Left the top of the floor unepoxied...

Got the wood cut for the floor. A planer is essential for fitting the sole. Cutting out access holes and drains today.

Thinking of using KOOL SEAL on the top deck instead of AWL GRIP paint. Anybody ever experimented with KOOL SEAL?

Blocking off 2 of these also. The Top and top right will be plugged. Only need a drain, a livewell tank pump supply and a overflow return. That is all.

Re: Simple steps for stringers and floor replacement

http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/87318/boat_guts.jpg I had spare wood and resin so I made ribs. I AM DONE! for awhile. Next I will tow the boat up to Louisville KY to get it "Closed Cell" foamed in the bottom. And then the sole gets installed. I am considering installing a tiller steer on...

Re: Simple steps for stringers and floor replacement

Its about 10 to 12 inches. Ribs are easy to fabricate and install. I would hate to do all this work and have the floor flex at the gunnels.

Re: Simple steps for stringers and floor replacement

http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/87318/stringers.jpg Got the transom and stringers installed solid. Probably used too much epoxy but at least the stringers are in and rock solid. The 6 inch 12 oz tape made it easy. Forgot to wet it out and lay the tape and give it time to soak up the epox...

Re: Simple steps for stringers and floor replacement

I am pulling the engine this morning and starting to cut the old transom wood out. I know I will be sorry to shortcut this project. Engine has to come off anyway cause I am upgrading from a 96Force 120 to a 2006 90 Yamaha 4 stroke I picked up for a $1000. Had been in a Marina fire and the cowling go...
