easyrider rebuild in australia

Hi all have posted here previously with plans to build a stitch and glue boat but I was recently given a small fibreglass hull and have decided to do a rebuild on it instead. The hull is an old aussie boat, a vickers easy rider 139 (13' 9"). Its a runabout which I plan to convert to a tiller steer o...

Re: What to do with a 15hp outboard

I keep looking at the fs18 and thinking that's really exactly what i want except a little bigger than what I was originally thinking. However, it only uses two more sheets of ply than the plans I've been looking at (without any of the modifications Im thinking of). Will it really plane and perform w...

Re: What to do with a 15hp outboard

Thanks for your help so far guys. Okay. If i go with a gf16, I would like to have the internal setup with a wider front and rear seat (essentialy casting decks) with an open cockpit in the middle, but I understand I cant omit the centre seat. Is it possible to cut the centre seat frames right back (...

Re: What to do with a 15hp outboard

Cool thanks for that info. I do prefer the look of the d15, but Ill have to give it some serious thought. Another question, given that uncomfortable chop is probably going to be the main thing i encounter when i venture out into inshore waters, would something with a v-nose (im thinking fs14, perhap...

Re: What to do with a 15hp outboard

It wouldnt be two adults and a couple of kids. It would be either two adults or 1+ kids. Basically I would be looking at around 200-210 kg with an absolute max of 240-250 if I had a really big guy with me (Im around 110 kg). Would that be two much for the d15? Given the potenial load and a 15hp outb...

What to do with a 15hp outboard

I have previously been thinking about building a small stitch and glue boat as a project for me (and to some degree my kids). Heres a previous post where I was discussing the d15 http://forums.bateau2.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=58407&p=342090&hilit=hinchinbrook#p342090 Basically the usage will be aroun...

Re: Flats boat based on indian river skiff?

Hey All Totally agree about the ambush being too small, which is why I am looking at the D15 which is 2/1/2 ft longer, 2 ft wider and with significantly more freeboard (ie not an oversize kayak). I am looking at building something which is big enough to be safe, but small enough to be launched off m...

Re: Flats boat based on indian river skiff?

Thanks for the help. Im still considering designs and all the input has been useful. I realise this design is significantly bigger but I dont want too small for safety from crocodiles as above. I actually considered the swift canoe as well, but I think the indian river skiff will give me that bit mo...
