Re: FS18 Build Page on Facebook

Thanks Jacques. I live in a small town located two hours from saltwater and the boat building process has drawn a lot of curiosity. Got a visit from the local newspaper reporter, funny. I am already going through withdrawals........looking for another one to start.....and thanks for catching the typ...

FS18 Build Page on Facebook

Good morning. I have completed my FS18 build, just waiting to get it registered with the state before I move it our of the shop and onto the trailer. I have created a FaceBook page dedicated to the build. Thought some of you might enjoy. Just get on your Facebook page and search for Reid's Flats Ski...

Poling Platform for FS18

Good day all! I am getting "closer" to thinking about a poling platform and was hoping someone has knowledge of some resources to explore. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Hopeful (but being realistic) there is someone nearer to South Alabama. Here is a picture after I painted the exterior. http...

Re: FS18 Deck Framing

Thanks Tom and Larry I thought SYP would work but I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to use cypress or something with a tighter grain due to being a marine application. No one is clear on how many resin coats to use either. I live in the middle of Lumber Country of the south and yet can't get ...

FS18 Deck Framing

I am in the process of laying out and framing the fore/aft decks and gunwales. I want to place a 1X2 on the lip/underside of the gunwale (tied in to the bulkheads) and also allow it to serve as the inside frame. I am using 3/4" marine ply for cleats (fastened to the hull sides) which I intend to coa...

Re: FS 18 CNC Kit

OK, Jacques. I have read the notes over and over. I have joined the panels and want to build the jig and start stitching. Two (sets) of questions (for now) :D 1) The kerfing you did for the rounded chine: Do I cut what is left or try to bend it as is (I think not but want to make sure)? If I cut, do...

Re: FS 18 CNC Kit

No problem Jacques I am the guy in Alabama. We have been talking back and forth for a little over a month. I am the one that wanted the longer foredeck. Maybe that will jog your memory. I am simply gluing the stringers together in preparation for the jig. I have glued the three layers of transom tog...
