Re: The Plytanic 2.0 - FS17 Build

Really nice work. Do you know what you are going to do about a trailer?

Re: FS17 Pre Build Questions and Ideas

I see another picture without it, on the other side. It is possible that we used two layers on the curved part and on on the flat one. I don't remember how we did it but play it safe, do what I specify. No worries. I'll definitely use 2 layers, I just thought the result might be a more fair side if...

Re: FS17 Pre Build Questions and Ideas

Do you have the plans? The answer is in the notes, page 7 of 26, at the top. Yes. I had already read that, but I was referring to what I thought I observed in the tech-support build thread. It sure appears as if Joel didn't put the splice on the outside until after the hull was stitched. Just askin...

Re: FS17 Pre Build Questions and Ideas

I'll try to chill a little. I did notice something in Joel's FS17 Build thread. It appears that when he made up his long hull panels, he only did the tape splices on the insides of the panels prior to stitching the hull and then put the outside tape splices on after he had everything aligned a...

Re: FS17 Pre Build Questions and Ideas

Yes, good idea. You"ll clearly see all the volumes at that time, no need to plan so much in advance. Thanks for your patience. I want to make sure I don't make any mistakes or decisions that limit the options I have. I've gone over the building sequence a couple more times today. Every time I go th...

Re: FS17 Pre Build Questions and Ideas

Modifying the deck shouldn't be an issue, however I think you are overestimating the amount of room you might have up there. I did the same thing. The hull tapers a lot up front, I think it's like 17 degrees or so if memory serves. The stringers actually terminate further back then you think. So wi...

Re: FS17 Pre Build Questions and Ideas

Thanks remedy32! I think I'm going to draw the sole with chalk on my shop floor so I can get a better feel for the amount of room I will have with various layouts. I'm having a bit of a hard time visualizing the amount of space in the boat.

Re: FS17 Pre Build Questions and Ideas

I would not do it. That foredeck will be very small and in a location where nobody can step or sit on it. The space for storage is very small. What I'm trying to accomplish is a place for a below deck fuel tank in the bow without a casting deck raised the 14" above the BL. I need a deck or breastho...

Re: Why use Silvertip Epoxy?

Silvertip has the best outgassing properties; the least amount of blushing and the least amount of bubbling in a finish of any epoxy I have used. The pricing through Jeff beat MAS which is like 5 miles away. I have used like ?130 gallons so far. The only epoxy I find to be fair compare is MAS. Sadl...

Re: FS17 Pre Build Questions and Ideas

This is what I had in mind. If this won't work, I guess I could go with a full locker back to frame "A" and extend a lowered deck farther aft than frame "B". I think I might place the batteries in the steering console.
