Re: Crabby Patti2 C17

When we flipped the FS19 it was put on the trailer which has carpeted bunks. All of the rest of the work was done with it on there.

If you are blocking it up, consider using carpet scraps to protect the hull,

Re: Cooler build

The foam should work as it does not react to epoxy. Any kind of solvent though will dissolve the Styrofoam. You can fiberglass directly over Styrofoam, but it still dents pretty easily, that is why I sandwiched the foam between skins of marine plywood.

Re: Cooler build

Fallguy, Thanks for the comments. Yes, I have some thoughts after building the cooler. Building the cooler takes about as much time as building a small boat. It would be a good way to get experience with the whole stitch & glue process. I think that Jeff and Reid could create a Kit for cooler buildi...

Re: Cooler build

Put the last coat of Awlgrip on yesterday morning. There are a few small runs on the front of the lid from the first two coats that I tried to sand out, but they still show, and they bother me. Took off all the masking tape and sanded around the edges to smooth a few sharp spots. Installed the non s...

Re: Anyone Fishing?

Fallguy, headed up your way this coming week. Will be attending my college reunion at Carleton College in Northfield, then headed to Northwest Ontario for a week of fishing, then to my lake place near Hayward, WI on Lac Courte Oreilles for three more weeks. Caught this guy on Thursday. Only the seco...

Re: Cooler build

The cooler’s interior usable volume is about 25 quarts. Exterior box dimensions are 20L” X 14W” X 13H” Two inches of insulation on the sides, bottom and slightly less insulation on the lid, plus the 1/2” or so for the plywood, really eats up the interior space. There is enough height on the inside f...

Re: FS18 on the double!

Not sure why altering the shear line, especially lowering it, gets so much interest. I really don’t like getting wet when I’m in a boat and when the shear gets reduced so does the hull flare, increasing the likelihood of water or spray coming over the gunwales. The reduction in hull depth also reduc...
