Scaling 7% would give an extra foot and about 4"on beam
Can the beam stay the same?

Yes. I'm thinking the 14 will be more portable. Would be better if I could launch it with a dolly or cart.

Thinking about an fs14ls

I've been thinking about an fs14ls for a solution for a small duck hunting boat. Almost no duck boat plan of this size is a true planing hull. Add to that it will hold a 25 horse. I'll probably use an early 70s 83lb 25. What will it run with a 25? So my thoughts are to enlarge the cockpit and add a ...

Re: Shortening fs18

Thanks for the direction thus far. So the fs18 is rated for a 20. What is the general consensus with that power level? It seem very conservative.

Re: Shortening fs18

Just seems like a 16' skiff would be easier all around. Im okay with two people. Will be a fishing boat for the tributaries of the Chesapeake. Im looking for something that replicates the Fin and Feather skiff if anyone is familiar with that model.

Shortening fs18

Im thinking about an fs18. But really want it 16'. Can this plan be easily shortened like that? I thought about the swift canoe which looks very similar, but the hp rating is disappointing.

Re: Making fillets

Is chopped fiber or milled strand better? The difference as I can tell is the milled strand is very small 1/32. Chopped fiber is 1/4" on up.

Making fillets

Is wood flour the best product to use to thicken Marinepoxy to make fillets? Is there a better product? Is there a general rule of thumb of how much wood flour is needed for linear feet of fillets?

Kara Hummer

Hopefully this forum is welcome to boat plans from other sources. The Kara Hummer is a 14' sneak boat for waterfowl hunting. Much like a wide beam kayak, plenty of pictures all over the web. So, I am altering the plans which are not s&g and use all dimensional lumber. I am converting all the compone...
