Re: FS14- Bayou City Boat

Bogie that little guy was turned to a blob not long after the picture was taken. The tug is at 1/30th scale. Not at all a popular size for figurines. Next size would 1/32nd which is noticeably smaller. My "model" was a WWII Navy guy off the Revell 1/32nd scale PT Boat 109. I tried fixing his hand, ...

Re: FS14- Bayou City Boat

Very nice, OQ! You're hatches are going to turn out great. It seems that hatchwork is one of the more difficult parts of boat building. I was initially planning to do a hatch in each of my seat tops. In the end I decided to omit them and it was a relief :D Don't change your little sailor sculpture i...

Very nice! Foam looks like it's so much cleaner to work with and a PITA too.

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)

wkisting, It is our opinion that all you need in the standard 2 LB Buoyancy Foam and not the 4 lb. The 4 lb is more about structural enforcement! A 2 gallon kit of the 2 lb will give you 8 cubic feet of foam. A 4 gallon kit is likely enough but some builders like to foam everywhere, that is up to y...

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

Bogie - did you just glue the seats onto the base and then tape the top? So there is no tape seam inside? Or did you build a gluing flange and make the glue seam wider? I have something similar and sort of don't want to have a lid, but then not a ton of glue area on half inch core. Only a four inch...

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

We've had great weather these past three days so I've been busy. I installed the battens on the inside edge of the cabin wings (the plans show a batten option and a full sized laminated triangular piece of ply). The batten was much easier and looks/works great. I also cut the handles in the cabin wi...

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

Hi, First of all I must say your boat looks beautiful and I like the picture with the crazy flamingo but now a question to David. I know that there are moose in America but the one on your picture looks to me like a bronze statue or is it really true that they come so close to your house that the d...

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

Seems I have hijacked your thread, sorry Boogie. Karl we have lots of moose here. They go where ever and when ever they want to. I see them in my yard pretty often and see their tracks in the yard almost every day. For the most part they are no problem but every now and again one of them is having ...
