Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

Thanks OQ and Jeff! I would've finished the hull fairing today but I planned poorly and ran out of sandpaper instead  Off to Lowes first thing tomorrow morning. A few more hours of sanding and she'll be ready for primer on Saturday

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

Finished glassing the centerboard, put a final coat of microballoons on the transom , used microballoons to build a nice cosmetic fillet under the rubber rails and did more sanding on the keel shoe

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

Correct. You don't have to glass the inside of the trunk but it is a good option. Drawing B268/8, note # 1 says: Optional: fiberglass inside with 9 oz. woven before assembly. 4 or 6 oz. is fine too, it's just for abrasion. In all cases, paint the inside with graphite. The CB is made from 3 layers 1...

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

The center board will be glassed completely . The tolerances between the center board and Center board case are such that jamming or swelling ( if swelling were to happen ) won’t be a problem . Also the slot on my keel shoe is slightly wider than the slot around the center board case therefore it wi...

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

Sanded the top threads off the biaxial on the shoe and knocked down any uneven/ sharp edges. After that I mixed several batches of microballoons to a paintable viscosity and used a chip brush to paint it onto the shoe. I will probably do it once more before sanding it one last time I also glassed on...

Re: AD16 Myrtle Beach

A few pics of today’s progress . I didn’t have a lot of time today but I managed to knock out a couple things that have been bugging me . I finished the faring of the shoe, fiberglassed it to the hull with 12 ounce tape and got a big thick batch of micro-balloons down. I also got the microballoons d...
