I plan to build a LM18 in the hopefully near future. My last inshore boat had 1 1/4" drain plugs on each side of the back deck going directly out the boat (not draining to a bilge). That's what I plan to use because the 1 1/4" plugs are easy to find at most places and easy to pop out - get on plane...

My father's boat had the scupper you linked to above on a locally built bay boat and they are nothing but a pain. They don't keep water out and they don't drain well either. The best drains are large open drains or brass hull scuppers with a plug option. That has been my experience with boats.
