Haven’t read the whole thread. Just a comment re: Jacques point of inshore boat. In the bays around the Corpus Christi ship channel the big tankers moving thru the channel can make some 3-5 ft waves. One of those could easily swamp a flats type fishing boat. Have to be watching what’s going on aroun...

In response to Jack and any others a great chance for some in your face and hands on will be Port Aransas Wooden boat show April 24-26. Sign up to be part of the family boat build (only a few positions left) . Just come and watch look and listen. Tutorials by several builders. Some product exhibits....

Welcome!!!!! I’ve got plans to have decks and sole. If you build the basic with just the seats, you’ll likely scoot along fine with that hp. Jack plate get you to more skinny water. I am now planning at least 90. Bare skiff you’ll be fine. What’s your plan what’s your budget? I bought my XF 4th hand...

Taped in the bulkheads today. One of those milestones that there’s really nothing to show. All the headaches out of the way and now time to put the lipstick on the pig, Decks, fishbox, baitwell etc. I started almost to the day a year ago. Had 6 months that I did not even see the boat. Please indulge me once again. What do you use for cleats, deck supports, beams under decking. Pine 1x2 sealed with epoxy? Laminated Okume? Thanks again. Pete

Hoping for advice on what goes where and why. Building the XF20. I have set bulkheads to have 8 ft of forward deck space flush with the rub rail. Aft I plan to have deck flush with the rub rail for 3.5 ft. This leaves 9 ft central that is going to have a small console for control, steering etc. I do...
