Re: XF 20 Build

One more piece to the puzzle, got my jackplate in. Bob's hydro jacker all in one with a 6" setback. Decks are ready to be glued down and glassed but we've had 30+ straight days of rain. Not so great for building boats under a carport.

A larger man...too funny. 8)
We'll leave it at that as there might be a few of these larger men lurking about lol. I just don't want a new client to step on my boat for the first time and feel the deck flex.

Re: XF 20 Build

After much contemplation and having a larger man call me to book a fishing trip I decided to laminate the undersides of the decks with 10oz cloth before gluing them down... 8) These afternoon rains make it hard to get anything done, but slowly chipping away at it.

Re: FS18 Bottom touch ups

I’m rough on Lil Bit’s bottom. She’s missing a few chunks. My thought has been that if the “chunk” is more the 1/4” I should widen it out to bare wood and taper it... then fill with a strip of woven and refinish the bottom. My reasoning is that I’m likely to hit the same area again AND this way I s...

Re: Outboard bolt patterns?

while the bolt pattern is standard on most larger outboards the shaft length may be slightly different from make and model. getting the correct motor height is probably the thing to consider before drilling.

Re: 18 ft fiberglass over wood transom repair, How many layers for tabing?

the only way to find out for sure is to take the motor out and start cutting away all that delaminated glass down to the wood core and see how soft it is... from the pictures of the boat i'd say its time to start thinking about building or buying a new one. even if you do patch this one back togethe...

Re: XF 20 Build

I got the fish box installed and plumbed, all the thru holes for the drain and both bilges were drilled and filled and mounted. I borrowed my buddies flaring tool and installed the brass transom drain tubes. Front deck hatches cut and fit.I also decided to cut the bow transom curve flush with the de...

Re: Super Light SC16

great looking boat. perfect little rig for the chass backwaters. it sure is getting busy on the river this year though, not like it used to be.
