Re: FS18 v2.0

First coat applied! Since I am rolling and tipping on this one instead of spraying when I get back from flying around again I'm going to flip the boat and start on the inside and then do the final coats after I touch up the rub rail just so I don't mess up the finish. https://66.media.tumblr.com/5b9...

Re: FS18 v2.0

Thanks! I'm only able to work on it a day or 2 a week but compared to the last build this is going much faster. Even with me doing it by myself. When back from flying around the frozen north it will be ready to sand and paint. Going with seafoam on this one with black accents.

Re: FS18 v2.0

Been super busy with work but still making good progress. I am about 45hrs into the build and ready to paint! I fly back north for a week and the primer takes 72hrs to cure anyway so it all works out. Here is a picture dump of my progress to date. https://66.media.tumblr.com/cffacd67226daa3ed061f0fb...

Re: FS18 v2.0

Happy to be building again! Making quick work of this so far!! Got one side of the hull panels taped. The info I found about 1 oz per ft of 6 inch tape was spot on too. I hate wasting resin. https://66.media.tumblr.com/4f12e047efece174f7910c45441193de/tumblr_pjp78p6gCL1wk9zk9o1_1280.jpg https://66.m...

Re: FS18 v2.0

One week since delivery and so far I have cut out all essential parts, assembled the strongback, setup the portable garage and just today glued the stringers. I will make detailed notes on the build as I go and post it separately when its done. I did some calculations and determined 12 oz of mixed e...

Re: FS18 v2.0

Progress so far! When building my strong back, I went with 2x6x8s but only wanted it to be 15 ft long. the 16ft lumber wasnt straight enough so had to join them together. rather than the junction being parallel to itself, I offset the lengths to reduce any deformations. I still need to make legs for...

FS18 v2.0

I had to sell my last FS18 but Jeff was awesome and delivered the supplies himself today for another build! My last one was amazing but was built like a tank. It had 12oz inside and out up to the shear line. This one will be built with just 6oz going up from the chine to rub rail on the side and no ...

Re: Anyone have the FS14LS and FS18?

will do! I was planning of picking up everything from down there for my next build to save shipping. I can just hook a utility trailer up and fit it all in.

Re: Anyone have the FS14LS and FS18?

Thanks! The FS18 was plenty stable for me. I dont fish with more than one other person at a time and my car can only tow up to 1000lbs so larger boats are off limits for now. I am hoping by the end of the year to have the funds to start again. I loved the FS18, but the FS14LS looks really nice too.

Anyone have the FS14LS and FS18?

I had to sell my FS18 and loved it but was also thinking about the FS14LS. What I am more curious about is the handling and stability of the one vs the other. And how practical is it for 2 people to fish on the FS14.

Thanks!
