Re: Forgot to sand between putty layers :/

I keep an eye on that amine blush thing. It actually never appeared yet, but I always wash anyway. This delamination is an effect of just not sanding... lesson learned I guess.

Re: Forgot to sand between putty layers :/

It took me 8 hours to remove a miss mixed batch of epoxy 8O I was super paranoid about mixing proportions and curing conditions. Imagining having to remove the uncured epoxy seemed like a nightmare. Structurally the hull is fine. Everything fits, laminated wet on wet, well cured, no problems. So it...

Forgot to sand between putty layers :/

Hello. Long story short. I forgot to sand between two layers of putty. I washed it but left the sanding for the other day and forgot to do it. Lame but true. And now the second layer chips off here and there. I'm at the shaping phase, so this layer is quite thick and I put a lot of effort into shapi...

Wood flour vs cotton flocks

Hello again, I have hard time getting good wood flour. All the producers I found in Poland sell it only in tonnes  I found only one guy that sells "wood flour" for ordinary people. He says it's fine pinewood dust from a dust collector in his wood pellets factory. Is it good enough? Alternativel...

Re: FS14 resin viscosity for laminating/gluing

Ok, thank you very much. I'll order the same amount of both slow and fast. They have the same mixing ratio and the guy says I can blend them to experiment with the pot life. I guess this is a good starting point for gaining some experience. Will see...

Re: FS14 resin viscosity for laminating/gluing

Ok. So for this general purpose resin I have four main hardeners to choose from. 1. Super fast : for lower temperatures (around 10*C), surely too fast for noobs; 2. Standard : pot life 10-15 min. in 20-25*C (the technologist said it would be best suited for my 15-20 temperature range); 3. Slow : pot...

Re: FS14 resin viscosity for laminating/gluing

Great info! Thanks. I'll focus on this general use one then. Its description says it's meant for laminating by hand, so it leaves no doubt. One more question. What is your favorite or recommended pot life? I have quite a lot of hardeners to choose from. I will have to ask the technologist for help w...

FS14 resin viscosity for laminating/gluing

Hello, I have another noob question... I'm about to order the resin for my FS14. I think I found good supplier in my part of Europe. Their technologist suggested to use two resins: less viscous (500-900 cP) designed for laminating and more viscous (2.500 cP) best for gluing frames, stringers a...

Re: 6 oz. tape substitute for FS14

Thanks for the answers. I googled, I looked on european Amazon, eBay, polish suppliers, czech suppliers, UK suppliers  Specified 45/45, 15cm tape is stupidly hard to find. Wider woven 0/90 tapes are also uncommon or strangely expensive. I guess I'll have to improvise. Looks like it might be eas...
