Re: 1981 Dolphin 20' Commercial

Yeah all the points contacting the tank will have a neoprene pad to allow expansion. It being aluminum i shouldn't expand too much. I did see people coal tar tanks but for the most part thats only when they foam them in. Since itll have air circulating around it it shouldnt need it, while also the b...

Re: 1981 Dolphin 20' Commercial

After a little vacation, and enjoying the last of summer and trying to get this project ready for winter, i have most my bulkheads ready to be put in and start the plumbing with chasetubes. Im going to do a false floor for the tank because i really dont have room to go any higher in the front, that ...

Re: Balancing Design Layout

Thanks Daytrip, and yes that what i was talking about. And see really with a load distribution that point load can only go to 10.5'. But since then i figured I've got a good idea of where the original tank was and scooted it as forward as i could go. Im going to put below deck storage or fish box mi...

Balancing Design Layout

This question comes from the other thread 1981 20' Dolphin build. Stringers are complete and I'm starting to fine tune where the gas tank and compartments will be. With that I have a good idea of where the original tank location, but never got to ride in it so I don't really know how it rode in the ...

Re: 1981 Dolphin 20' Commercial

Well let me ask another question instead of doing a bunch of calculations. I figure laying everything out with room and have access to inspections plates and where they are located and ease to get to. So from there i was thinking to put the back inspection plate of the gas tank where the sender is e...

Re: 1981 Dolphin 20' Commercial

Almost have my stringers completely done just waiting on some epoxy, meaning i should have them wrapped up by the end of the weekend. Ive been starting to get my bulk heads shaped, which brought me to the layout of everything. I've been playing around with the idea to put a porta bracket on the back...

Re: 28 BERTRAM OUTBOARD CONVERSION

I actually just watched that video but not through here, just saw it pop up through the Tube. Awesome! Great work. Your build has been amazing to watch and come together. Keeps me reminded to see how everything will look in the end of my project.

Re: 1981 Dolphin 20' Commercial

I did the two outsides of the inner stringers last night that turned out pretty good. Tabing into the transom i did 3 layers of 12oz 6" tape offsetting each layer. As far as a no sand period I think i would save time, but your work has to be super clean for example as of last night i laid my fillets...
