Re: Roman´s OB15 (First Time Builder)

Don't worry too much about that camber, you can build without it. The idea is that when bending the plywood close to the bow, the ply will assume a conical shape. That works well with Okume plywood, not so much with stiffer ply. In all cases, do not worry if the plywood does not fit perfectly to th...

Re: GV10 Stop and Start Project

Re: MDF dust as filler?

I wouldn't use it either. I wouldn't trust the glue and wax they use in the manufacturing process mixed with epoxy to create a structural joint.

Re: Barrier coats

https://www.westsystem.com/instruction- ... s/fairing/ Read # 7 Yep, I see it. The only reason I myself would use a couple of final layers of neat epoxy as last coats before a topcoat would be when leaving the wood clear with no filler at all. If you are going to use anything opaque as a filler, I ...

Re: Barrier coats

What Joe2700 and piperdown said. But I'd like to know if "piperdown" references bagpipers leading a suicidal battle charge, or maybe a steamfitter after a boiler blows up? Mike Myers "So I Married and Axe Murderer" 1:05 in Long story....I used to play the bagpipes (about 10 years).... https://www.y...

Re: Barrier coats

Okay, so sort of a poll type question... The West Systems manual suggests microballoons are porous..and they suggest as many as 6 coats of epoxy after final fairing. They also recommend a final light layer of glass after final fairing (???). Anyhow, obviously I am using epoxy primer and plan to use...

Re: 2019 Southeastern Boat Builders Meet

If I had been paying attention I would have set my flight to go out on Sunday instead of this Friday. As is, my better 2/3 has plans made since I'm home this weekend. Would have been nice meeting all of you that plan on being there.

Re: Eric's C21

First try at baguettes. Not bad, nice chewy inside, outside could have been a bit more crisp. Next time I'll only spritz once. I think the second shot was to much as the bottom crisped nicely. Needs some work. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/88594/bread2.jpg I would totally tear into tho...
