Re: C17 in New Zealand.

Piper down; a few of us have these underway. I didn’t fuss over close tolerances too much and mine worked out fine. I did double check constantly to make sure the over all shape stayed true and level. You can fill a lot of gaps with resin mix. It will be fun to watch you progress! Crabby Scott build...

Re: Crabby Patti2 C17

I finally finished the flotation, IMO the most difficult task to control.....used three gallons of 2-part and 8 cu. ft. of blue closed cell blocks. Has anyone calculated the volume of all the stringer space between station E and B of the c17 ? Took photo before I cleaned up the mess sorry. IMG_1317....

Re: Crabby Patti2 C17

First mistake that I know of.......glassed in the back compartment soles prior to installing frame E so I could fill them with foam. Duh. Forgot that I couldn’t get at the stern side of the frame to glass it to the hull. Now to glass frame and patch hole.

Re: Crabby Patti2 C17

Thanks Jacques; I understand the concept now. The remaining issue is that I read a lot about whether the deck was too close to the waterline to safely use scuppers, much of that discussion appears to be related to the load in the boat. I don't trust a one-way scupper to keep water out, and i suspect...

Re: Crabby Patti2 C17

I cannot find any references in the plans as to where to put scuppers.....HELP! After reading the forum, my understanding is that there is no sole under the motor well. I will need to put in an access hatch at the front of the motorwell bulkhead to get at the lower bolts for the motor mounting and a...

Re: Crabby Patti2 C17

Has been taking me a long tome to glass in the frames and start the sleepers for the soles. I decided to work my way now to stern, leaving the motor well frame until the end. Much easier for me to get in and out of the boat through the the transom rather than climbing up and over the side. Back to h...

Re: C17 in the bayou

Salty; did you glue the motorwell side pieces to the stringers before taping them in? The sides seem to fit snugly against the stringer.........

Re: Crabby Patti2 C17

Salty’s right; lots of fussy fitting now. Burning Man was on my bucket list. @69 you need to start emptying the bucket. Went with my niece who is a hard core burner. Pretty hard to describe. Really harsh; 100+ most afternoons. Those in RVs do pretty well but I camped. Great people; very giving. A lo...
