Re: FS17 Build Planning

The best I can tell you is to do some sanding. The tape you used has threads that stick up after curing. That is what you feel if you run your hand over it now. Sand it down until the threads are gone and the glass weave is just starting to show. Sand it some and post a picture. The guys will tell ...

Re: FS17 Build Planning

I held it down and kicked it as hard as I could and it didn’t give. Seems pretty strong.

Is there a good sanding tutorial out there you guys can recommend?

Re: FS17 Build Planning

You need to do some reading, The plans list the setup of the build and what you should read, start reading there. http://bateau2.com/howto/sg101.php http://bateau2.com/howto-index.php I use only BBC's MarinEpoxy with slow hardener. BBC's wood flour for the glue mix and fillet mix. I do like S3's Qu...

Re: FS17 Build Planning

Good Evening All! I am on the verge of ordering and comparing SilverTip vs Marinepoxy. When I translate the instructions over to the silver tip package, It makes sense for the most part but had some clarifying questions. EZ Fillet: making rounded corners prior to putting glass. So my understanding i...

Re: FS17 Build Planning

I just bought a bunch of fiberglass supplies and plan on practicing on scrap plywood in the garage. It will give me a chance to work on joining flat panels together and filleting.

Re: FS17 Build Planning

Once you have started on your project, the best thing you can do is DO. I don't want to know how much time I have wasted thinking when I could have been doing. There are a few stages where you need to do things linearly, but for the most part if you hit a wall in one area, you can still work on ano...

If you don’t want to make a smaller first project then consider building the console or a cooler/seat or leaning post box as your practice project.
I am going to make an outdoor storage box for some gardening equipment. It would give me a chance to build on seems and corners and awkward spaces.
