Couple of C19 questions...

First, regarding strakes... With a 1”x1” skeg and reverse chines, what benefit will I gain from strakes? I’ve had them in mind all along, but feeling close to primer, and not sure I want to back up. 2nd, will it be acceptable to sand fairing compound to 80 grit, then prime, then sand primer to 120 a...

Re: SOBX Little Big Boat GV15

My limited experience with a similar sized compressor is that it will work, but your compressor will run most of the time. I started off with an inline sander, but quickly gave it up for a Dura Block. I pull the big boy sander out when I have larger clumps to get down quickly, but the dura block yie...

Re: C17 in New Zealand.

Wow. Must have been heartbreaking to do, but I imagine, in retrospect, it won't seem like much work after it is all said and done, and you're going to have a much better finished product that you will be much happier with. Some other guys may chime in, but with those gouges, I would be inclined to s...

Dan she is looking great. How are the Dura Blocks?
Thanks, Cap'n!

I wouldn't want to fair without this 16" Dura Block.

This weekend I made the switch from 40 grit to 80, and stepped down to a softer 3"x9" hand pad, and it too seems to be imperative.

All progress... Interested in opinions though, does it look like more fairing material on here than normal...

Field Trip

Hello, all. I hope you all are well during these crazy times. Before the world started to melt, we took a short vacation to Nags Head, NC while the girls were on Spring Break. While in town, I was able to sneak in a visit to Harrison Boatworks in Wanchese, NC. Patrick Harrison builds sport fishing b...
