Re: Chenoa 16 Stability

It is intersting the differences in the shapes of the boats. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/18340/normal_101.JPG http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/18340/normal_101_4.JPG I plan to put 5 or 6 concrete cylinders (6" diameter, 12" long, 60 lbs each) in the canoe and see whet effect...

Re: Chenoa 16 Stability

I'll try that. It would be easy to add or remove ballast as needed. Maybe something that would roll out if it capsized, like round concrete cylinders.

I have been in a few canoes in my life (am obviously not a canoe expert) but this canoe was much more “tippy” than I expected. It was ...

Re: V12 Transition Joint

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I should wait until I have completed a few boats before I start messing with the designs.

V12 Transition Joint

Finally, after 5 years of planning, I have just started building a V12. I read Devlin's Boat Building book and he recommends extending the side panel down past the bottom panel at the chine. That requires a "transition joint" near the bow so prevent an overbite. The V12 plans do not have this design...
