Re: FS-18 - "Bare Bones"

If I was looking for a strong back like this one and was going to have to build one, I'd drive 200 miles easy to pick up one AA had made. You could not come close to building one for the cost of fuel. Material would cost more plus labor, not to mention AA quality :D AA, boat looks great, you did a ...

Re: LM18 build in DeLand

I'm looking into building the LM18 for remote steering and controls, but will only have a tiller outboard at first. I will add a console later with the new OB. What should or can I do to be able to switch over later. If it were my boat, I would go ahead and build the console and put in the remote s...

Re: FS-18 - "Bare Bones"

Hi Nathan,
I’m not at the shop right now to measure the strongback.
It’s between 15’ and 16’ long and weighs less than 150lbs. It’s around 16” wide and a foot or so tall.
I could bring it up to Lake City next time I go hunting, or you can pick it up here.

Re: FS-18 - "Bare Bones"

Looks great! I love the moment paint (and Kiwigrip) go on! Nothing better than hearing people say, “wait...you built that?!?” 8) I’m interested why you put the battery switch in the bow? Are you storing all the batteries up there? Or is that for a trolling motor? Will Thanks Will! Sorry, the page r...

Re: FS-18 - "Bare Bones"

I really like the design of your strong back. What kind and size of plywood did you use? How tall are the long sides? Are there double layers of ply along the sides? Hi Nfloyd, Welcome to the forum! My son and I were in Lake City doing some deer killing, hence the slow reply. The strong back is mad...

Re: Hull support off trailer

Welcome! And good luck with your rebuild.
The key words in your question are “economy build”.
I’d leave the boat on the trailer even though it’s a roller type in order to save time and money.
