Re: Stringers before or after inside glass?

I'm sorry but we will have to agree to disagree. Your theory doesn't hold water, get it, lol. Seriously, yes I can see a pin hole or improperly sealed chase leading to a stringer rotting out, but there is no direct path to the hull. How is the rot going to jump across 2 layers of epoxy resin and 1/...

Re: Sintes 21 Rebuild

Those glass plugs look great, the perfect thickness. :D That means the gas tank vent I sent you will work. What was the diameter of the plugs? I'm about out of salmon and it's getting too dang hot already. We are booked and heading your way not soon enough. Full disclosure, I think I like cold weath...

Re: Stringers before or after inside glass?

AA, I can see that as well, but I think with how we build these boats it would be a stretch. Assuming you properly epoxy prime each part, and then use spacers when bedding the stringers in thickened epoxy, prior to filleting and 2 layers of glass, I'm not sure how rot would transfer. in an older pr...

Re: Stringers before or after inside glass?

Raw plywood stringers glassed to a raw plywood hull equals a potential water entry point for both. Where does water sometimes stand for hours, days or weeks? With a fully glassed hull before you install the stringers, you eliminate the hull part of the potential issue. Full disclosure, posted by a g...

Re: Poling platform height for FS18?

The poling platform height from the rear deck is not necessarily going to be a set number in inches. All other factors being equal-If the boat's sheer has been cut down and the transom is left at the stock height, the platform height will be taller than on the standard build version. Motor clearance...

Re: FS-18 - "Bare Bones"

Thanks guys :D I think I'm on the mend, just today kept down my first solid food since Tuesday night. On a lighter note, my Continental trailer is ready for pickup. The marina called today and said it would be better to put the FS18 on the trailer before they fit the break tongue. Seems reasonable. ...

Re: Poling platform height for FS18?

What is a good height and platform size for the FS18 poling platform? Dave The motor's height and the clearance needed to be able to tilt up will dictate the minimum height to the bottom of the poling platform. You can always add a step to the aluminum framework to help you climb up. If you are usi...

Re: FS-18 - "Bare Bones"

Thanks for the positive comments and also your help with the paint. I'll buff and spray the last coat, it will be fine.
I'm down with the flu, hopefully I will bounce back quickly.

Re: ST21 Hybrid Powered "SKINNYDIP" Noosa Australia

A fold down swimming pool umbrella makes a bunch of shade when anchored. The umbrella pole can be made to fit a standard rod holder. I have this elaborate sun shade thingy for the xf20, I haven't used it yet but plan to when I put the boat back in the water. The sun shade will stow away when not in ...
