Re: Alafia Angler's LM18

I love your son Adam’s handle choice. 8) Looking forward to seeing his build. Same cockpit drainage as Richard's Bare Bones? I’m very happy you remembered the process. It’s the absolutely the most awesome way to build a flats boat. No water below the deck, 100% self draining and no water in the bilg...

Re: Graphite paint questions

I put graphite/epoxy on the bottom of my boat following Cracker Larry method. Can’t say I would bother doing it on another boat - don’t think it’s worth the bother. I 100% agree it’s not worth the effort and I’ve done it on two of three boats. It’s more of a feel good rather than does much good pro...

The cell won't work on Cape Sable to Everglades City if you have Verizon. AT&T has fairly good coverage there, so I switched to Verizon 8) 8)
The chart plotter app will continue to work with your Android device's gps.

Re: How much storage do we really need...

Aboard my son’s FS18, he takes a dry bag, small Yeti, fishing pole, first aid kit, throwable and a tackle bag. That’s it, Bare Bones.
His mother recently bought him a nice Mustang vest so that is one less thing to stow.
I guess it depends on the boater but he says less is more. :D

Nice looking work!
The tank is sweet, with a 4 stroke 25 Yamaha you’ll get 100 plus miles of range.

Re: Dimensional timber for Stringers?

Gotcha, a C17. 8) Wonderful boat, All the more reason to go with the laminated stringers.
I hear on not being able to get 2/1. Use due diligence and you’ll be fine.

Re: Dimensional timber for Stringers?

In another thread I detailed my issues with laminating the plywood for my stringers. I do not trust the bond enough to put them in my boat. Another sheet of 9mm Meranti marine plywood will cost me about $80. I do already have however some Radiata pine dimensional timber, clear, dry, knot free and u...

Awesome job on the boat!! This is one my personal favorite JM designs.
Besides building a nice boat, you have the fishing down pat as well 8)

Reid,
Why not just use your IPhone in a waterproof case?
