I just remembered when i was looking for a windless for my boat there was a company in Australia that made
some really nice below deck drum windlesses . The only thing above deck was a stainless steel curved hawse pipe.
Maybe something to look at.

Peter if you are still looking for hardware and windshield brackets checkout tendercraftboats.com.
They have what you are looking for and also the gasket material for the windshield .
They are listed under fastening and fittings . bronze or chrome your choice.

That should work , they have twice the number of cross members than a normal trailer 8)

David Gerr has a boat plan very close to what you propose . The DR Northwest cruiser. 34 ' long with a 8' 6" beam 6' 4" head room and a true sea bright skiff bottom.
