The design is a Gil Gilpatrick 16' Laker. I have one I built many years ago that I am redoing right now. It was Richard's inspiration to build one, and apparently Fallguy also built one. Nice piece of final touch there sir. Will you treat the wood with oil or something to keep it that bronze color? Don't know that species at all. Does it turn grey over time?

Too funny! I had to go back and read about laying down the glass on the sole with just hardner and read a bunch of the posts between me and the folks here to find it. That was an adventure! Maybe I do need another boat... :help: :help:

I too had issues connecting my VHF to the GPS and decided to just leave them separate. The function it supports is sending your location to anyone you hail on the radio, including sending you their's. Have never needed it, and if you are going offshore an epirb is still the best option for emergenci...
