There is a market driven by a psychological need to own expensive things, regardless of whether the value matches the price tag. I'm pretty sure that's what you're looking at. Someone will want to be at a party or have some easily impressed people aboard, so they can drop the price into conversation...

I think the C19 and C17 may be a bit too big for what he's talking about. On Ontario, a lot of places rent out 15' aluminums just to fish the bays.
