That is what I used. Just make sure that they are absolutely straight, and have no holes in them.

Not to jump in uninvited, but why not go down to Boater's World, or West Marine and get one of the 1" brass transom drains with a plug? That is what I did. I drilled an oversized drain hole in the transom, filled it with thickened epoxy and let it cure. I then drilled another hole through the cured ...

rikmoor, I am in agreement with the rest of the guys. I was a first time builder myself. I had no experience with fiberglass at all, and very limited experience with carpentry work. I built the OD18 and it turned out fine. Just as the rest have suggested, read the forum religiously and ask questions...

I ran my OD18 with a 30 hp Suziki on it for several months, and it performed very well with 2 people on board. It would run about 24-26 mph.

I installed a standard 1" drain in mine, and bought a plug for it. I have not had to use the plug yet, but I keep it with me just in case. The boat is, indeed, self-bailing.

fishingdan,<BR><BR>Though you may be able to lower it (not sure), I would suggest that you leave it as is. You can still use it as a casting deck, and the higher vantage point is a definite plus.<BR><BR>cvlngineer<BR>

OD18 handling at higher speeds

I´ve had my OD18 up to 32 mph, and it was comfortable, at least to me. It didn´t get all squirrelly on me or anything. The bay was smooth, and I didn´t try any tight turns. I guess how fast you are comfortable at it a personal preference. <BR><BR>cvlngineer<BR>
