Question for Richard Warner

Richard,

I am in the middle of tuning and troubleshooting my motor. I am wondering what kind of top-end speed you are getting with your boat.

Before everyone cracks my knuckles for being an unsafe speed-demon, I would like to say that 30 mph is plenty fast for me. I do, however have t...

OD-18 Prop Question

The boat handled very well at 32 mph. I didn´t try any tight turns at that speed, so I can´t comment on that aspect of it.

Charles
OD-18 Prop Question

Thanks for the info,

I, initially, had a 17" pitch on it, and took the boat out by myself. It topped out at 32.2 mph. I tried a 15" pitch at the ramp to diagnose a bogging problem, but it made no difference, so I put on a 19" pitch. I had 2 other people in the boat this time, plus ice, drinks...

OD-18 Prop Question

Randy,

Let´s do it! The fishing has been fairly slow this past week, but as soon as we get a few warmer, sunny days in a row, it should pick up.

I have read in fishing reports that there have been some trout caught in Baffin that already have eggs. Good fishing should be around the co...

OD-18 Prop Question

Thanks for the guidance folks! I was unsure where to start. The guy that built my motor, had me go into the shop and pick out a prop, so I walked back there and found a nice, pretty stainless prop, but it is a 19" pitch. It is a great big muther. I ran it yesterday, and it seemed to perform okay, bu...

Circular Saw vs. Jig Saw for cutting plywood?

I used a cordless circular for the first bit of cutting that I did, but I quickly tired of having to recharge the #$%@ thing. I could barely cut up one sheet of ply with it. I ended up just using my $10 Wal-Mart jigsaw for the bulk of my cutting. I was careful and it worked perfectly.

Charles...

OD18 beginners questions:

Phantom_22,

Hello up in San Antone!

You are correct, I put my front cleat on the small deck I added up front. I also put one cleat on each side in the rear (on the quarter seats).

I used regular 2 x 6´s from Sutherland´s for my stringers. They worked out pretty well, though I di...
