Re: Gluing surgical tubing?

You might find a more UV or weather resistant material for tubing.
Surgical tubing in my slingshots last about a year getting very cracked.

Re: Powering the OD18, tiller or CC?

"did you tape your stringers in addition to gluing?"
That question highlights a mistake in thinking I made when first starting.
The percentage of strength in an epoxy-filleted-and-glass-taped-joint is a far greater number

You'll get a better answer, but be cautious, I don't think the weights are equal.

Re: a boat for a 4 horsepower motor and 4 people

Sure it'll push it. 4HP is about ideal. Not a planing hull. So, it rows well, too. It was difficult for me to keep the bow down with 5HP wide open throttle and alone. Now, intercoastal -- I don't know the speed of your current. Boat speed should be 5-6 mph. You won't do much against any current at t...

Re: a boat for a 4 horsepower motor and 4 people

In my view, depends on how rough the water is. This FL-12 is not my picture or boat. Looks to me more than 6" freeboard with that load. The FL-14 should hold 20% more. You'll run out of body room before you sink her. Three big guys throwing 1oz jigs or one adult and 5 ten year olds fishing bluegills...
