Re: C17 design and building questions

Welcome: I built the C17 center console version.....perfect boat for my area and use. I look forward to following your build. I looked at various "below deck" gas tanks...for capacity and dimensions...including one from Moeller that was tapered to fit in the bow area. At the time I had no clue as to...

Re: Nice C17 article in Small Boats Monthly

Nice looking boat. Love the color and brightwork trim. Good write-up. Performance wise you can not expect this boat to carry four adults behind the helm station, along with gas tank and battery without being severely out of trim. Personally I think the cuddy is a waste of space, and no one will be h...

Re: C17 here we come ready or not

Welcome Randy: Congrats on choosing the C17. The precut cnc kit that I bought was for the cuddy cabin version, but I decided to build it as a center console and I am very glad I did it that way. I found a way to use all of the plywood pieces that were supposed to be for the cabin to build the consol...

Is that a Pygmy "arctic tern" kayak I see hanging from the ceiling in your pics?

Re: IPE decking for rubrail

I used Ipe for the coamings and swim step on my build. For the coamings, I resawed a 5/4" thick piece of Ipe decking into two 5/16" thick layers, which bent easily into the curve and then epoxy glued them back together in place. Five seasons of use and the varnish over epoxy finish is holding up jus...

Re: Knoxville Jay’s C17 Build

Hi Jay: Yes.....Pay no attention to the nay sayers...they know very little about these boats. I posted my build pictures on another site and just ignored the idiotic comments from those who obviously never built a boat of any kind. I'll see if I can find your group for stitch and glue boats. Your C1...
