Yes, as a general rule, the more cup in a prop the higher it can be run but there are always exceptions. If you want to run the motor that high and have a good reliable low water pick up on the lower unit it will probably make a big difference. but the type of prop makes a difference also. Take a cl...

When I mounted my motor, I bought a Morse universal control. It came with all the fittings to connect to every brand of outboard. It was esy to install and works great. All you need is the cables for an OMC motor. It also came with trim/tilt controls on the handle and was only $150

I did what Boomer say. In my sole and motor well I drilled some 2" holes to pour the foam in and let air escape. It worked fine.

It's been a while since I did mine but I do remember fitting the rub rail as best I could along the shear but it wasn't exact. I had to trim some of the hull to line up with the rub rail after it was attached. I would suggest exactly what Shine recommends too. Also do the best you can dry fitting it...

That should be a good motor. Once BPR took over OMC the problems were corrected. I would ask for a printout of the computer to see what been done to it and the actual hours on it.

I was thinking the same as smilinmatt. I would bet also that if you had long enough a distance to go with one motor and the wrong prop, (i.e. the 17 vs 11 as smilinmatt mentioned) you may end up lugging the single motor enough for it to have problems before you gat back to safety.
