Re: Cape Man's Dory

:help: :help: :help: Going to post this on the paint section as well, but need an answer today if possible (on a roll). I am using System 3 W-155 primer (thanks again John). I am out of the part A but still have enough of Part B to put another coat on (she needs it). Part A says "epoxy resin". Is i...

Re: Cape Man's Dory

I can tell yall it looked great! Craig has done a fantastic job. I was really nice to see one up close and in person. The pix on the web don't do anyone's justice. Glad you got all that sanding out of the way. I know that is a load off. You should be done in no time, now. Keep up the good work, and ...

Re: Southern Yellow Pine

Yeah, that makes sense. Also, I didn't see where it said to add all the Frames below deck, like you did, but I may need to study more. :D

Re: Southern Yellow Pine

I don't know. Maybe I should just stick with ply.

I can't even see on the OD building notes where it says to tape the stringers down. Seems like it just says glue & fillet. Maybe that includes tape too.

Re: Southern Yellow Pine

I don't know what happened with my post. I tried to ask a question after that quote, so I'll try again. If you can find straight SYP 2x6's is that better/same/worse than using laminated plywood for stringes on an OD18? The building notes call for 2x6's, and there is a lumber yard sort of near me tha...

Re: SYP

MCC. I used SYP for the stringers in my OD18. A local lumber store let me pick what I wanted. One of the laborers asked why I need good wood and he helped me go through 125 boards to fet 2 straight nearly knotless boards. I let them set in the garage for about 3 months before using them. I found a ...

Re: Cape Man's Dory

Got it. From your screen name and pictures, I thought you were closer to Naples, or something. Now that I know you are (generally) in the area, I may hit you up for a peek at your boat sometime.

Re: Cape Man's Dory

I know of those guys, they do good work. I really like their "T-towers."

Where are you located? I assumed you were further south, but you seem like you are in the Tampa area.

Re: Cracker Larry's OD 18

In the middle of the pass? Honestly? On that day? The day we tried to fish the pass it was blowing 20-25 from the east, straight across the 11 mile harbor, against the tide, and small craft warnings were up. In the deepest part of the pass with the strongest current we did not have enough boat to e...
