Laminating Frames [C-19]

About the frames, it must be a misunderstanding. They are laminated to the hull, not over their surface.

For the transom, you are correct that it is super strong with all the FG framing but I still recommend to fiberglass at least all the outside area for resistance to abrasion etc.

C19 Hull Epoxy Coverage

Good approximations but remember that we do the calculations for you, for every boat, in a much more precise way, with CAD and a spreadsheet.
I don´t want new builders to believe that our BOM´s are wild guesses: we spend around 4 hours on a C19 BOM.

[ This message was edited b...

Epoxy sanding

We could talk forever about that. Search the archives and find an excellent post about that by Justin Pipkorn.
It depends on the type of finish you want and on how well you planned the lamination.
You can save a lot of sanding time by using peel-ply and then hi-build primer.

I have no idea on how to explain that . . . There are several hundred Mertens in the US. It is a German name but my family is Belgian and French.
You can pronounce it the German or French way, it doesn´t matter to me. When I lived in Miami, many pronounced it Martinez . . .

And your feedback in the forum help us improve the plans and the notes: I assumed it was clear but it wasn´t. We already made a note in the buidling instructions
