About the frames, it must be a misunderstanding. They are laminated to the hull, not over their surface.<BR><BR>For the transom, you are correct that it is super strong with all the FG framing but I still recommend to fiberglass at least all the outside area for resistance to abrasion etc.

Please cut as marked: it is correct. We take the slope of the hull in account. Remember that there are two layers of plywood. We mention that difference in thickness somewhere in the notes: it is correct.

Forget it: we are working on the building notes and somebody pasted a sentence from the D4 in there! Sorry.<BR>There is no such frame: all the frames are very clear on the plans, there is nothing else, nothing hidden.

We could talk forever about that. Search the archives and find an excellent post about that by Justin Pipkorn.<BR>It depends on the type of finish you want and on how well you planned the lamination.<BR>You can save a lot of sanding time by using peel-ply and then hi-build primer.

I have no idea on how to explain that . . . There are several hundred Mertens in the US. It is a German name but my family is Belgian and French.<BR>You can pronounce it the German or French way, it doesn´t matter to me. When I lived in Miami, many pronounced it Martinez . . .
