Re: IS a DE27 Still in the works?

Scaling is the way to go, 10% will give you an almost 28' boat. It is easy, multiply all dimensions by 1.1. Keep two points in mind : 1. the DE25 (27 1/2 scaled) will be a large boat to tow. 2. the DE25 is designed as a light boat. Many builders have outfitted her as a much heavier cruising boat and...

Re: OB19 first build Maryland

I have no idea why those things don't line up. So many OB19 have been built form the same plans. Let's not worry about camber right now but let's check if all the frames and transom (molds) are properly lined up without the stringers in place. Double check the height of each frame, use the baseline ...

Re: Odd Electric Boat and Other Questions

Solar is very simple. Start with the fact that 1HP = 750 Watt (0.75KW). Let's say you decide that you need about 5 HP or 4 KW for that 5 mph speed. The best common solar panels, about 24 by 60", produce about 200 watt in full sun. You need about 20 of them for 4 KW. You can not fit that on any small...

Re: RB18 deck configurations

Good day! Have beeen doing quite a bit of research. Love the tumble home of this model and was wondering what the possibilities are for a developable deck? If it was possible to have a developable deck while preserving the sheer line, I would have designed her that way. Unfortunately, it can not be...

Re: Gulfstream 28 question for Jacques

No, sorry. It is already a long and narrow hull but she can be built with the bracket option and that gives a much larger cockpit.

Re: EC24 / PC24 Questions for Jacques

The EC24 must be kept light. The extended roof, generator etc. will hinder the performance. I would go for the PC24 or get an extra battery. Beware of that generator set up. I have two of those Hondas and their 12V out put is very low: less than 10 A, 6 I believe. 12Vx10 Amp = 120 watt = that will n...

Re: Panga 22 Semi Cabin/Enlarged T-Top Question for Jacques

It may not be that pretty. Those weird high cabins are not only ugly but probably dangerous in bad weather. They make the boat unstable. The windage must be horrible and make the boat difficult to handle, that's why the ones in the pictures have no fixed windows. A simple canvas top would be much be...

Re: Outboard placement

On Richard's cats, the preferred location is on the hulls center line. He shows a single outboard between the hulls as an option but the twins work better. Single outboards on the center line are fine for pontoon boats of for sailing cats like the Wharrams. The offset engines are located that way to...

Re: Eric's C21

The bow eye is fine for securing the boat on the trailer. For the cover, many of our builders have used those temporary garage/shelters. You will have to change the canvas every 2 or 3 years but it is cheap compared to renting a spot. A cover over some bows cost even less if you don't mind removing ...

Re: Xf 20 strength uses and mods

https://bateau.com/boats/XF20/slides/XF20_Capacity.JPG That is the XF20 Red Alert in Texas. On the forum somewhere, there is another picture of that boat in Florida with more people, 20+. Capacity is not a problem at the dock, the XF20 will not sink BUT she is designed as a light boat and should no...
