Re: Unique question for Jacques and the builders

The hull with deck would be 670 lbs if built as specified. The tunnel is included as part of the hull. Some builders can end up with a lighter boat, some heavier. It depends a lot on how your fiberglass. There are several console and leaning post options and I did not calculate the weight. I would s...

Re: Starting my CS25 Build, South Florida

Devlin: I do not recommend that book anymore because there are too many differences between the two methods but here is a copy of a paragraph included in most of the building notes, including the CS25: "Those books are a good introduction to boat building in general but if there is any conflict betw...

Re: Unique question for Jacques and the builders

You used common sense and you are right, the dimensions for the tunnel parts don't make sense. All my dimensions on that page (only on that page), use a different dimension style and they are multiplied by two. I will issue a correction and send you a copy. Sorry about that but you would have seen i...

Re: CK17 usage plan

I believe that’s a leg of mutton rigging shown. Is there any reason not to use a sprit for a bit more sail area? You can customize the sail plan but believe me, this is enough sail area. Read the full thread about a CK17 in Croatia, he mentions performance. I did it see any mention of oarlock for a...

Re: CK17 usage plan

Here is a link to a backup page:
https://bateau.com/studyplans/CK17_study.php?prod=CK17
It shows the old study plans with the correct pictures.

There is also, here on the forum, a thread by a CK17 narrating how well the boat handles bad weather. It was in the Adriatic Sea.

Re: CK17 usage plan

A couple of questions: 1. There is no hull profile on line. I'm assuming she is a true flat hull with no V. 2. Given that we will be in "proper ocean" is the flat hull ... less than ideal? I'm avoiding the AD as I still plan the 580. It's a flat bottom. As a sailboat, she will heel and present a ve...

Re: Unique question for Jacques and the builders

I see a scaling problem in the tunnel drawing, it looks all dimensions have been scaled. That tunnel must exactly between the stringers and it is not the case. I imported the tunnel drawing from the XF20, something must have happened there. I need a couple hours to fix it, I am not in my office now....

Re: Retiring and/or Snowbirding on the water

What are the realities for cost of living differences between pure power boats and motor sailers? Not much. There is an initial investment in the rig but the engine will be smaller. Question of maintenance, a tiny little bit more for the sails but not much. I suppose we are discussing displacement ...

Re: Great Loop Trawler/Cruiser - Concept

The problem with that boat is the weight. I like the looks and the layout but it must be fitted on another hull.

Re: Great Loop Trawler/Cruiser - Concept

I feel like the discussion has turned to a different kind of boat in general. We are going all the place with requirements. Towing is a major restriction. There are different kinds of towable boats. A DE25, even a stretched one, can easily be towed on the highway, a TT35 can be put on a trailer occ...
