Re: SB18 in the Philippines

The battens are on the sides of the frames. The top of a batten is aligned to the top of the frame it is attached to. Yes, I cut notches in the frames for the deck support battens. Actually Fragi, I believe the build manual calls for the deck to be taped to the frames. The taping is done when the bo...

Re: SB 18 centre of gravity/centre of flotation

Hi guys, You must be really busy Jacques. I believe you have the two version mixed up. Isn't the 114kg of internal ballast for the CB version? The bulb keel version does not carry any internal ballast. Thanks for pointing out the need to be able to move some of the internal ballast around if one wan...

Re: Jacques - Need advice - what sail boat for beginner ?

Hey no one mentioned the SB18. One of the reasons I choose this was because I want to take my 9 and 10 year old kids with me and not have to worry about recovering from a capsize. The self-bailing open transom cockpit is another big plus in terms of safety. In terms of easy of building, the SB18 is ...

Re: SB-18 bowsprit

Would it be possible to install the pole if I put the forward deck and cabin roof first? I ask because I still don't have the pole :( and the southwest monsoon will be here about 8 building-days. The southwest monsoon brings heavy rains as well as typhoons so I'd really like to have the boat encapsu...

Re: SB18 in the Philippines

The southwest monsoon will start in a few weeks. Since my SB18 already suffer one monsoon, I figured I had better let her sit this coming one with a full coat of epoxy. So last Sunday as soon as the summer heat began to abate, I put the glass on the seats. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/lcas...
