od16 Number 2!

Well my Gt27 Build is going to take quite a while and I am already missing my OD16 (sold it last Summer). So I have purchased new plans for the OD16 and am starting the build this week. Hope to knock it out in about three months so that we can catch some good weather before winter. Just looking for ...

Re: Richards gt 27

Thanks - Backs getting better, just taking its time. Re the cross members (called floors in boat building or stations or frames on the plans) these are checked out as are the stringers so that you do get the egg crate formation. I am planning on setting up a basket mold of sorts as well. I agree tha...

Re: Richards gt 27

Hi rwatson and welcome aboard. Yeah there are quite a few holes in the plans. The nestings are missing a couple of sheets. Be carefull with the transom layout i.e. the bow transom is two pieces laminated and the bow pieces for the bottom panels are cut from these sheets as well, this is not stated i...

Re: Houseboat Questions

Like you hb4me, I would be interested in opinions re the boats abilities and would like to hear comparative comments relating to the gt27. We plan to use our gt27 (once built) in the bays and harbours around here in south western australia. The southern ocean is on our doorstep and we get some inter...

Re: CX19 progress updates Perth WA

Hi gerry, Cant help with your questions mate, don't know a thing about the CX19. I'm a bit curious about your comments re the pvc pipe  Is this a chase tube :?: I don't think you would laminate over any pvc because of adhesion problems. Anyway I am sure someone will chip in with a response. Hop...

Re: Richards gt 27

Thanks guys, I will continue to post updates as able. I too want to see one of these boats for real :) Will start joinging bottom and hull lengths this week now that I have the extra room added to the shed. Have all but finished the d5, now have to find a spot to store the thing while I build the ba...

Re: Richards gt 27

Hi George, Thanks for the inquiry, took a while to extend my shed to accommodate the length of the boat, on top of that I have been a bit crook (Aussie for ill!) therefore have not progressed as I had hoped on the build. Most of the hull is cut out, still have to glue and join sections. To be honest...

Re: CX19 progress updates Perth WA

Thanks peter for the info.
Gerry your input is great, I will modify my wet out box and build a roller and I like the cut down brush idea too.
Cheers

Re: CX19 progress updates Perth WA

Very neat work Gerry. Couple of questions. Do you find the roller wets out the tape faster and better than a squeegee in your wet out box?? Did you make the roller? Do you wet out the whole length of tape for those long runs or do you lay it in short pieces. Would appreciate your response to the abo...

Re: Dairy Queen technique

Maybe the sandbox is getting a bit crowded :?: :?:
No matter, I learned something about American food today (and another good explanation re fillets).
