Re: fibergalss hatch inserts

Just saw this. Are you asking what hardware to use or if I put hardware on? On my personal boat I use piano hinges in the gap between the hatch and gutter. That provides the cleanest look. I have blocked out recesses for flush hinges before but the requires post finishing and identification of hinge...

Re: Reefie's LB26

That looks like top quality work my friend. You will appreciate the time and care you gave the layup as you transition to fill and fairing. Really looking forward to seeing it come together!

Re: DAYTRIPs Bertram 28 Strech

Yep, It is wide to provide more buoyancy. The stringers will get extended into the bracket. That is why I am building it now actually so I can get the stringers in the extension. They will be very similar with some tweaks. The extension is actually 4’6”.

Re: DAYTRIPs Bertram 28 Strech

Built the mold for the bracket this weekend. Made it a little wider than the bracket on my current boat. The existing boat has a tub that is 48” wide. This one is 60” wide. Both are 30” deep at the center. Nice thing is that the boat is level fore aft and port to starboard. That makes things a bit e...

Re: DAYTRIPs Bertram 28 Strech

So I am not an expert on the topic fuzz. My first concern is not having to much Stern lift. That’s why I left them off to start. Easier to add then take away. If she feels heavy In the Stern on plan or not shedding water then I will add them. My gut is they won’t make a huge difference but who knows.

Re: DAYTRIPs Bertram 28 Strech

Thanks guys. Rick, I did scarf it back a bit but I a not to worried about a little hump inside. Outside will of course be more of an issue. I am using epoxy and 1708. Takes so much to build thickness. Sides are about 1/4” and bottom about 3/8 on existing. So I will have 6 -7 on the sides and 12-13 o...

Re: DAYTRIPs Bertram 28 Strech

Thanks guys. They are stiffeners fuzz. All epoxy Tom unless I build it outside the boat. Then I use vinylester or poly.
